New Arabic & Heritage Classes Launching This Term

We are delighted to announce that SCANI’s Arabic and Heritage Classes are returning this term — bigger and better than ever! These weekend classes are one of the most loved programmes we run, and they are all about helping our children stay connected to their roots.

Why It Matters

For families raising children in Northern Ireland, keeping the Arabic language and Sudanese culture alive is something close to every parent’s heart. Our classes give young people the chance to learn to read and write Arabic, discover Sudanese history and traditions, and build friendships with other children who share their heritage — all in a fun, supportive environment.

What’s New This Term

  • Two levels — beginners and intermediate, so every child learns at the right pace.
  • Culture corner — stories, songs, art and history alongside language.
  • Volunteer teachers — led by dedicated members of our community.
  • Family-friendly — a warm, welcoming space for parents too.

How to Register

Places are limited and tend to fill quickly, so early registration is recommended. Classes are open to children of SCANI members. To sign up:

  1. Make sure you are a registered member.
  2. Contact us with your child’s name and age.
  3. We will confirm your place and share the term timetable.

Can You Help?

We are always looking for volunteers — teachers, classroom helpers and organisers. If you would like to give a little time to help our young people thrive, please get in touch.
