Sudanese Community in Northern Ireland Explores Partnership with Belfast Works Connect to Support Community Members into Employment

As part of the Executive Office’s ongoing efforts to empower members of the Sudanese community in Northern Ireland, develop their skills, and enhance their opportunities in the labour market, the Executive Office held a meeting with Belfast Works Connect to explore potential cooperation and partnership in vocational training and employment support.The meeting forms part of the community’s commitment to building meaningful partnerships with specialist organisations and service providers, with the aim of creating genuine opportunities for community members to gain practical skills, valuable experience, and recognised professional qualifications that can help prepare them for the labour market and support their career development.The training and professional qualification opportunities available through the programme include:🔹 Forklift Driving – training and qualification in forklift operation🔹 SIA Licence – training and preparation for employment in the security sector🔹 CSR Card – essential training for working in the construction sector🔹 As well as a range of other vocational courses and skills designed to meet the needs of the labour market.The support provided by Belfast Works Connect goes beyond training. The programme also offers career guidance and advice, support with CV preparation, interview preparation, and assistance in accessing employment opportunities and connecting with employers.The Executive Office believes that this potential partnership represents an important step towards the economic and professional empowerment of members of the Sudanese community, particularly young people and those seeking new opportunities to develop their skills, gain recognised qualifications, and build a stronger professional future.Both sides agreed to continue working together to develop an appropriate mechanism for accessing these opportunities.
