Productive Meeting Between SCANI and Belfast City Council

The Executive Committee of the Sudanese Community Association in Northern Ireland (SCANI) held a productive meeting with Belfast City Council at Belfast City Hall as part of its ongoing efforts to strengthen cooperation and explore new opportunities to support the Sudanese community.The meeting was conducted in a positive and constructive atmosphere, with Council representatives expressing their support for SCANI’s vision and their commitment to developing a strong and sustainable partnership. Discussions focused on several key priorities, including securing a permanent community venue, supporting the Sudanese School, expanding community programmes, empowering young people and women, improving access to training and funding opportunities, and supporting cultural and official events that celebrate Sudanese heritage and promote community integration.Both parties also agreed to develop a joint action plan, including a proposed six-month pilot programme and the establishment of direct communication channels to oversee the implementation of shared initiatives and strengthen the participation of the Sudanese community in the social and civic life of Belfast.The Executive Committee extends its sincere appreciation to Belfast City Council for its warm welcome, openness, and collaborative approach.
