Youth Club Opens a New Space for Connection and Listening to the Aspirations of Sudanese Young People in Northern Ireland
As part of the Sudanese community in Northern Ireland’s commitment to supporting young people and providing safe and positive spaces for communication and dialogue, the Youth and Sports Office organised a Youth Club event on Wednesday, 5 August 2026. The event brought together a group of Sudanese young people in a welcoming atmosphere characterised by enthusiasm and active participation.The event was a great success, providing an important opportunity for young people to get to know one another, build connections, and engage in open discussions about their interests, needs and future aspirations.The young participants expressed their enjoyment of the event and their enthusiasm for the programmes and activities offered through the Youth Club. They actively contributed to the discussions and shared many ideas and suggestions for future programmes and activities that reflect their needs and interests. These included skills development, sports and recreational activities, training opportunities, and initiatives that encourage relationships, communication and connection among young people.The Youth and Sports Office confirmed that this event marks the beginning of an ongoing space for dialogue and engagement with young people. Their ideas and suggestions will play an important role in planning future programmes, helping to ensure that Youth Club activities are shaped by the needs, interests and aspirations of young people themselves.The Youth Club also aims to provide a positive and supportive environment where young people can develop their skills, make new friends, gain experience and play an active role in their community.At the end of the event, participants expressed their strong interest in seeing the Youth Club continue and in having more regular meetings and programmes. They also showed their willingness to participate and contribute to the development of its future activities.
